Andrew Schulz Says Harris Team Lied on Podcast Request

Andrew Schulz claims Kamala Harris’s team falsely denied his outreach for a podcast interview during the election.

Comedian Challenges Harris Campaign’s Response

Comedian and podcast host Andrew Schulz has accused Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign of dishonesty, claiming they falsely denied his team’s efforts to secure an interview during the 2024 election cycle. Schulz, known for his popular podcast “Flagrant,” discussed the matter during an appearance on the New York Times’ “The Interview” podcast.

Schulz recounted reaching out to several high-profile Democratic figures, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, to invite them on his show. According to Schulz, not only did these attempts prove unsuccessful, but his team was met with accusations of being “podcast bros” who were “sexist, bigoted, and racist.”

Schulz’s claims intensified regarding his attempt to book an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. He said, “It’s wild to blatantly lie when not only did I reach out — Charlamagne, who’s working with them, reached out, Mark Cuban, who’s a surrogate, reached out, and we reached out, and they blatantly lie.” He added that when articles are published about the issue, Harris’s representatives are quoted as saying the outreach “never happened,” leaving readers to question the truth of either side’s narrative.

He explained his frustration, noting, “I think it’s an indictment on me, because it’s almost like calling me a liar.” Schulz said he attempted to clarify the record by noting that, in addition to his efforts, other public figures such as Mark Cuban and Charlamagne Tha God had also reached out to Harris’s campaign on his behalf.

Podcasts and Political Engagement

While Schulz’s team was rebuffed by several Democratic figures prior to the election, he noted that he has since been able to speak with progressive leaders, including Pete Buttigieg and Senator Bernie Sanders. Schulz speculated that Democrats may have initially believed they did not need to appear on his podcast to connect with voters, but attitudes may have shifted after the election.

Schulz gained attention during the campaign when he hosted President Donald Trump on “Flagrant” in October, an interview he believes marked a turning point in Trump’s election prospects. Schulz stated, “After the interview, I felt Trump went from having no chance of winning the presidency again to winning by a landslide.”

Identifying himself as a lifelong Democrat, Schulz said his vote for Trump was motivated by dissatisfaction with what he described as the Democratic institution’s control over the political process. “My vote was more like I voted against a Democratic institution that I feel was stripping the democratic process from its constituents,” he remarked, adding that he disagreed with Harris’s pledge to continue those policies.

The Harris campaign, as well as representatives for Charlamagne Tha God and Mark Cuban, did not respond to requests for comment.
