Cornyn Calls for DOJ Probe on Biden Health Claims

Senator John Cornyn has called for a Justice Department investigation into whether Biden’s health was misrepresented to the public.

Senator Demands Probe Over Biden Health Disclosures

Senator John Cornyn of Texas has urged the Department of Justice to open a formal investigation into whether the public was misled about former President Joe Biden’s health during his time in office. The call follows revelations that Biden is battling late-stage prostate cancer and allegations that key details about his condition were withheld from the public.

In a letter addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi on Wednesday, Cornyn questioned whether Biden’s staff and physicians—including then-White House doctor Dr. Kevin O’Connor—committed material omissions or misrepresentations about the president’s physical and mental fitness. “I fear the American people were deliberately misled,” Cornyn wrote, emphasizing what he described as a failure to provide the transparency required of a sitting commander-in-chief.

Concerns Over Mental Fitness and Public Trust

Cornyn’s letter cited a May 18 announcement from Biden’s team disclosing that the former president is battling aggressive prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones. This followed reports questioning Biden’s cognitive awareness during his presidency and highlighted growing concerns over whether the public was given an accurate account of his capabilities.

“Instead of full transparency, important information was kept secret,” Cornyn stated. He also referenced longstanding concerns from conservative lawmakers and commentators regarding Biden’s mental acuity—concerns that were frequently dismissed by mainstream media outlets during Biden’s presidency.

Cornyn contrasted Biden’s approach with that of President Donald Trump, who voluntarily underwent a cognitive test while in office. Biden famously resisted calls for such testing, once responding to a reporter’s inquiry with, “Why the hell should I take a test?”—a remark that drew further scrutiny and controversy.

The senator pointed to a recent book by a CNN anchor alleging that Biden was only functional for “four to six good hours” per day. “These positions are in direct conflict with official claims that the president was fit for duty,” Cornyn said, arguing that such contradictions undermine public trust and raise questions about decision-making at the highest level of government.

National Security and Constitutional Implications

Cornyn warned that the alleged concealment may have had broader implications. “These actions potentially impacted the trust the American people have in their government and weakened us on the world stage,” he wrote. He invoked the 25th Amendment, which outlines procedures for presidential succession in the event of incapacitation, noting that Americans deserve clarity about their leaders’ ability to govern.

He also cited reports suggesting internal White House discussions about whether Biden might soon require a wheelchair, referencing former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who governed while paralyzed from the waist down.

“I encourage the Department to conduct a full investigation and ensure that no federal laws were violated during the previous administration,” Cornyn concluded.

The Justice Department has not publicly responded to Cornyn’s request as of publication time. The White House and the offices of Joe and Jill Biden have also declined to comment on the matter.
