House GOP Probes Biden’s Mental Fitness

Four ex-Biden officials to testify in House GOP’s probe into alleged cover-up of his mental decline and executive actions.

Former Aides Scheduled to Appear Before Oversight Panel

Four former aides to Joe Biden have agreed to voluntarily testify before the House Oversight Committee as part of an ongoing investigation led by House Republicans. The probe centers on whether Biden’s inner circle concealed signs of mental decline and issued executive actions without proper authorization during his presidency.

The individuals expected to testify include Neera Tanden, former Director of the Domestic Policy Council; Anthony Bernal, Assistant and Senior Advisor to the First Lady; Ashley Williams, former Deputy Director of Oval Office Operations; and Annie Tomasini, former Deputy Chief of Staff. Their interviews will take place between June 24 and July 18.

A committee aide confirmed that Tanden will appear on June 24, followed by Bernal on June 26. Williams is scheduled for July 11, and Tomasini will testify on July 18. These transcribed interviews are expected to provide insight into internal White House operations during Biden’s term and allegations of executive overreach involving the use of an autopen signature device.

Subpoena Issued for Former White House Doctor

The investigation intensified after Biden’s former White House physician, Kevin O’Connor, declined a voluntary request to testify on June 27. As a result, Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) issued a subpoena compelling O’Connor to appear before the panel. Comer’s inquiry focuses on whether aides bypassed Biden in key decision-making processes, including presidential pardons and executive orders.

Last week, President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Justice to launch a formal investigation into the matter. He tasked Attorney General Pam Bondi and White House Counsel David Warrington with overseeing the inquiry. The move underscores the Trump administration’s commitment to investigating what it claims was a systemic effort to obscure Biden’s cognitive capacity during his presidency.

In response, Biden rejected the allegations as unfounded. “Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false,” Biden stated. He criticized the investigation as a political distraction orchestrated by Trump and Republican lawmakers.

Biden further argued that the inquiry was aimed at diverting attention from legislative proposals that would harm average Americans. “This is nothing more than a distraction by Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans who are working to push disastrous legislation that would cut essential programs like Medicaid and raise costs on American families, all to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations,” he added.

The Oversight Committee has not yet announced whether additional witnesses will be called. The outcome of these interviews may play a pivotal role in determining whether further action will be taken or if legislative safeguards around executive decision-making should be revised.
