Iran Crowdfunds $40M Bounty for Trump Assassination
Iranian campaign claims to raise $40 million bounty for Trump’s assassination after US strikes Iran’s nuclear sites.
Crowdfunding Campaign Raises Threats Against US President
An Iranian organization calling itself the “Blood Covenant” has reportedly amassed more than $40 million in donations for the assassination of President Donald Trump, according to a report by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI). The campaign’s website prominently features a poster depicting Trump in crosshairs and calls for donations purportedly aimed at ‘establishing stable peace.’
The campaign appeals to potential donors with religious justification, quoting the Quran and encouraging both financial and personal sacrifice for the cause. MEMRI notes that the message is a call to jihad, and describes the poster as providing religious legitimacy to efforts to target Trump. The fundraising activity and threats have escalated in the wake of recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
Religious Leaders Issue Fatwas, Regime Amplifies Threats
Recent weeks have seen a surge in explicit threats against Trump from Iran’s religious establishment and senior officials. MEMRI reports that Iranian grand ayatollahs issued fatwas in late June declaring Trump an enemy of Allah and Islam—known as a “muhareb”—punishable by death. The institute further notes that these fatwas have been supported and echoed by senior clerics, prominent seminary lecturers, and regime officials closely linked to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The report highlights that such calls are not limited to the upper echelons of the regime. Instead, the rhetoric has permeated all levels of Iranian society, with media outlets and Friday sermons reinforcing the message. The campaign’s backers offer not only the multi-million dollar bounty but also the promise of religious reward and martyr status for anyone who succeeds in the assassination attempt.
According to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, the “Blood Covenant” website is allegedly managed by a former employee of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the regime’s principal propaganda platform. The report indicates that the movement is part of a coordinated effort to incite violence against Trump, and that it reflects a broad regime consensus in Iran.
US Agencies Respond Amid Heightened Threat Environment
US officials have acknowledged the increased threats to the president. A Secret Service spokesperson stated, “We operate in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment and the safety and security of the President and all of our protectees remains our highest priority.” The official explained that the agency collaborates constantly with federal, state, and local partners as well as international counterparts to maintain stringent security protocols, but declined to comment on specific intelligence measures.
The State Department confirmed its awareness of the threats, though did not offer additional details. The situation follows the Trump administration’s recent authorization of major strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, a move which has fueled outrage and calls for retribution from Iranian leadership.
Analysts note that the unprecedented crowdfunding campaign, coupled with explicit support from Iran’s top religious authorities, marks an escalation in rhetoric and potential risk. As diplomatic tensions between Washington and Tehran intensify, US security agencies remain vigilant, reinforcing protections for the president and other high-level officials in the face of ongoing threats.
