Iran Slams US Sanctions, Trump Hits Biden

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has condemned the United States for imposing new sanctions, accusing Washington of undermining diplomatic efforts and sending contradictory signals. In a statement released Tuesday, Iran emphasized that 'the other side cannot speak of diplomacy while continuing to use the language of threats and pressure.' The ministry insisted that the fresh sanctions are 'completely inconsistent with the negotiation process' and warned that such actions only serve to 'increase mistrust.'

Earlier, the US Department of State announced new sanctions targeting an international network facilitating the shipment of millions of barrels of Iranian crude oil to China, valued at billions of dollars.

In response to the developments, United States President Donald Trump criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, during an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity aboard Air Force One. Trump claimed that Biden's policies allowed Iran to become 'very rich.' 'And now they have $350 billion or more, which is a tremendous amount. With oil, you make great wealth quickly, and they have tremendous oil and tremendous reserves. Biden freed them up from what I did,' Trump said.

Despite his criticism, Trump reiterated his stance that Iran 'won't be a nuclear power' under his watch. He also expressed goodwill towards the Iranian people, stating, 'I am all for Iran. I want them to have a wonderful country and make a lot of money.'

The clash of narratives reflects ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran, as sanctions and diplomacy remain at the heart of their complex relationship. While the Biden administration pursues a combination of pressure and negotiation, Trump's comments signal a more hardline approach aimed at curbing Iran’s influence and economic growth.

The developments underscore the fragile nature of US-Iran relations, with sanctions policy continuing to be a major point of contention amid broader geopolitical dynamics.
