Judge Jeanine Named Interim US Attorney for D.C.
President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Judge Jeanine Pirro as the interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia. Pirro, well-known as the co-host of Fox News’ "The Five," brings a distinguished legal background to the role. Trump praised Pirro on Truth Social, calling her a "powerful crusader for victims of crime" and stating that she is "in a class by herself." He highlighted her trailblazing achievements, including becoming the first woman to serve as both a county judge and district judge in Westchester County, and for establishing the nation's first Domestic Violence Bureau.
In addition to Pirro’s appointment, Trump announced a significant new role for Ed Martin, who previously served as interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia. Martin will now serve as director of the Weaponization Working Group within the Department of Justice, as well as associate deputy Attorney General and pardon attorney. According to Trump, Martin will be tasked with "finally investigating the weaponization of our government under the Biden Regime," signaling a strong focus on internal oversight and reform.
This reshuffle underscores Trump’s continued commitment to restructuring key justice positions with individuals he describes as dedicated to upholding law and order. Pirro’s and Martin’s new roles are expected to be pivotal in advancing Trump’s agenda of accountability within federal institutions.
The Justice Department has not yet released additional details about Pirro’s upcoming duties or Martin’s new mandate, but political observers are closely watching these moves as part of broader shifts in the administration’s justice strategy.
