Springsteen Ignores Trump Question After UK Remarks
Bruce Springsteen avoids answering a Trump-related question after calling his administration "treasonous" during UK concert.
Springsteen Remains Silent After Onstage Political Remarks
Music legend Bruce Springsteen sidestepped a question about President Donald Trump while signing autographs for fans, days after publicly condemning Trump’s administration during a concert in the United Kingdom. The moment was captured on video as Springsteen, wearing a Deus Ex-Machina jacket and Ray-Ban sunglasses, moved down a line of fans when someone asked if he had a message for Trump. Springsteen chuckled, raised his hand in brief acknowledgment, and continued without answering.
The encounter followed sharp political remarks delivered by Springsteen onstage during a performance in Manchester, England. “The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock and roll in dangerous times,” he told the audience. He went on to describe the current U.S. administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous,” receiving enthusiastic applause from the crowd.
“In my home, the America I love… is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,” Springsteen said, emphasizing his concern for democracy and calling on his audience to “raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring.” A clip of the speech was later posted to his YouTube channel.
Trump Responds with Scathing Criticism
President Trump fired back on Truth Social, launching a personal and political attack on the artist. “I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States,” Trump wrote. “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK.”
Trump’s statement escalated further, criticizing Springsteen’s appearance and political affiliations. “This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country,” he wrote, adding, “Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
The President also revisited Springsteen’s endorsement of Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in the last election. At the time, Springsteen had declared Harris the best hope for restoring constitutional values and democracy, calling Trump “the most dangerous candidate for President in my lifetime.”
Springsteen’s opposition to Trump has been vocal and consistent throughout recent election cycles. In an Instagram video last year, he accused Trump of exhibiting a “disdain for the sanctity of our constitution, the sanctity of democracy, the sanctity of the rule of law, and the sanctity of the peaceful transfer of power.”
As tensions between cultural figures and political leaders remain high, Springsteen’s silence during the autograph session spoke volumes amid a backdrop of escalating rhetoric. Whether he will respond further remains to be seen, but the public feud has once again placed celebrity activism and presidential politics at the forefront of national conversation.
