Trump Ally Urges Third Term After Historic Bill Passes

Trump ally urges third term and Mount Rushmore honor after landmark tax and border bill passes, president promises economic boom.

Republican Lawmaker Pushes for Trump’s Third Term

Amid celebrations over the passage of President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” a prominent House Republican has renewed calls for the president to be eligible for a third term and to be honored on Mount Rushmore. Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee praised the legislation’s sweeping reforms, stating, “This historic legislation will unleash our economy and usher in a new golden age for America.” Ogles, who has previously introduced a resolution to permit Trump a third term, emphasized that such achievements warrant consideration for both a continued presidency and national recognition.

Ogles was present at the White House and on the House floor as the bill advanced, working closely with Speaker Mike Johnson and the president to persuade Republican holdouts. The bill, exceeding 900 pages, delivers lasting changes to tax policy, border security, defense, energy, and national debt reduction. It narrowly cleared the House with a 218–214 vote after a marathon overnight session, following earlier Senate approval. Only two Republicans, Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, voted against the measure; no Democrats supported the package.

Major Provisions and Partisan Divides

The new law permanently extends income tax brackets lowered by Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and introduces new deductions for tipped and overtime wages, as well as relief for Americans aged 65 and over. It rolls back green energy tax credits from the previous administration, boosts funding for national defense and immigration enforcement, and raises the federal debt limit by $5 trillion to prevent a credit default. The legislation also implements expanded work requirements for Medicaid and federal food assistance programs.

Democratic lawmakers have criticized the package as favoring the wealthy and undermining federal benefits for working-class Americans. Republicans counter that the tax provisions are targeted at the working and middle classes, and that welfare reforms ensure assistance goes to those most in need. Ogles argued that “we’re finally reversing the damage caused by Big Government and Democrat cronies,” underscoring the bill’s intended impact on economic growth and government reform.

President Trump celebrated the passage, describing it as “the biggest bill of its kind ever signed” and predicting an economic boom. “It’s going to make this country into a rocket ship. It’s going to be really great,” he said, highlighting the bill’s record-setting tax cuts and investments in border security and defense. The White House echoed these sentiments, with spokesperson Abigail Jackson stating the measure would “create historic economic growth to usher in America’s Golden Age.”

White House Ceremony Marks Passage Today

The president will officially sign the bill at the White House today, with a ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m. and military jets—including B-2s, F-22s, and F-35s—flying overhead in celebration. Trump noted the near-unanimous Republican support as a sign of party unity. “When you go over the bill it was very easy to get through the House,” he remarked, reflecting on the intense efforts to secure its passage.

As the legislation becomes law, calls for an extraordinary third term and further honors for President Trump reflect a moment of heightened partisan enthusiasm and debate over the president’s legacy. The new law is expected to shape U.S. economic and social policy for years to come, with supporters predicting unprecedented growth and a new era of American prosperity.
