Trump Criticizes Biden Autopen Use

Trump says Biden’s autopen use enabled radical border actions, calls it a major scandal in U.S. history.

Trump Questions Legitimacy of Border Directives

President Donald Trump raised sharp concerns on Friday about the former administration’s use of an autopen to authorize significant immigration policies, calling it a potential historic scandal. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump accused aides surrounding former President Joe Biden of exploiting his cognitive decline to pass radical orders without his full awareness.

“I think the autopen is going to become one of the great scandals of all time,” Trump said during the press briefing. “You have somebody operating it, or a number of people operating. I knew Joe Biden—he wasn’t in favor of opening up borders, letting 21 million people in from prisons and mental institutions and gang members.”

Trump argued that Biden’s past as a “moderate person” contradicted the sweeping border policies enacted during his presidency. “He wasn’t a person that would allow murderers to come into our country,” Trump said, questioning the authenticity of the executive orders signed under Biden’s name.

The remarks coincide with an ongoing House investigation led by Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer. The inquiry, launched earlier this month, aims to determine whether Biden was mentally fit to authorize critical government actions, especially through the use of an autopen—an automated signature device that can replicate a president’s name on official documents.

Comer indicated he was open to calling Biden to testify if necessary. “I understand he signed almost everything with an auto-pen. It's a very dangerous thing. It really means you're not president,” Trump emphasized.

Congressional Inquiry Focuses on Staff and Medical Records

Comer has already dispatched letters to five individuals from Biden’s inner circle, including his former White House physician, seeking clarification about the president’s cognitive condition in office. The Oversight Committee confirmed all five have responded, though Comer warned that subpoenas remain an option if they decline to testify publicly.

“Look, I would love to ask Joe Biden a lot of questions, but right now, we’re starting with the staffers who were operating the autopen,” Comer reportedly said. He further noted that Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s personal physician, would be called in to explain discrepancies in past health disclosures. “He definitely was not telling the truth about Joe Biden’s health,” Comer stated.

Trump reinforced his view that many policies attributed to Biden’s administration did not reflect the former president’s actual beliefs. “I don’t believe it was Joe Biden, I really don’t,” he said. “He wasn’t a person that was in favor of transgender for anybody that wanted it, to take kids out of families, etc., etc.”

The issue has gained renewed attention amid revelations from a new book, audio transcripts of Biden’s special counsel testimony, and a recent cancer diagnosis, all suggesting that concerns over Biden’s cognitive health may have been more severe than previously understood.

As scrutiny intensifies, the investigation into autopen usage could reshape public understanding of executive accountability and raise broader questions about presidential authority in cases of cognitive decline.
