Trump: No China Talks Yet

United States President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that he has not yet met with Chinese officials to discuss ongoing trade relations. Addressing reporters at the White House, Trump remarked that a meeting would take place 'at the right time.'

'They want to meet … They are suffering greatly because they are not doing trade with the US and they made most of their money off the US, don't kid yourself,' he said, signaling that the ball is in China’s court.

Trump pointed to the significant trade imbalance, stating that while the U.S. has a trade deficit with China, the latter enjoys a trade surplus of 'more than a trillion dollars.' The President insisted that his administration's use of tariffs is effectively addressing this disparity.

'With tariffs, this is changing quickly,' he said, underscoring the economic pressure being applied to prompt negotiations.

Trump’s comments highlight the current pause in direct diplomatic engagement with China, even as both sides continue to navigate one of the world’s most critical trade relationships. The administration’s emphasis on leveraging tariffs continues to be a central tool in reshaping U.S.–China trade dynamics.
