Trump Pressures Congress to Pass Big, Beautiful Bill
Trump pressures Congress to pass his sweeping domestic bill, warning no vacations until the legislation is complete.
President Demands Swift Action on Landmark Legislation
President Donald Trump escalated pressure on Congress Tuesday, urging lawmakers to swiftly pass the "Big, Beautiful Bill" and vowing that no one in Washington should take a vacation until the legislation is finalized. Trump’s call to action came in the wake of recent foreign policy achievements, as he emphasized the need to pivot from international peacemaking to addressing pressing domestic issues.
"Now that we have made PEACE abroad, we must finish the job here at home by passing 'THE GREAT, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,' and getting the Bill to my desk, ASAP," Trump wrote on Truth Social. He directly challenged senators to "lock yourself in a room if you must, don’t go home, and GET THE DEAL DONE THIS WEEK." Trump insisted that the House must quickly act after the Senate, and declared, "NO ONE GOES ON VACATION UNTIL IT’S DONE. Everyone, most importantly the American People, will be much better off thanks to our work together. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Trump’s message underscored the urgency he places on the legislation, intended to deliver sweeping changes and tangible results for Americans. The president’s demand reflects mounting political pressure for Congress to show progress ahead of upcoming recess periods, and highlights his strategy of connecting foreign and domestic accomplishments as a unified agenda.
Ongoing Feud with Rep. Thomas Massie
The president also continued his public criticism of Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., calling the congressman "very bad for the Constitution" and deriding his voting record. "He votes, ‘NO!’ on everything, because he thinks it makes him cool, but he's not cool, he's a LOSER!" Trump asserted, amplifying attacks first posted over the weekend. Trump vowed to campaign against Massie in the upcoming Republican primary, declaring, "GET THIS ‘BUM’ OUT OF OFFICE, ASAP!!!"
Rep. Massie responded to Trump’s attacks by sharing a previous endorsement from the president, in which Trump had called him "a first-rate Defender of the Constitution" and "a Conservative Warrior for Kentucky's 4th Congressional District." Massie also highlighted his dissent against Trump’s recent military actions, declaring on social media that the president’s strikes against Iran were "not Constitutional." Last month, Massie was one of only two House Republicans to vote against the Big, Beautiful Bill Act when it passed the chamber.
As the legislative battle intensifies, Trump’s insistence on immediate action and his high-profile feud with Massie are likely to keep the spotlight on Congress in the days ahead. Whether the president’s hardline stance will accelerate negotiations or deepen divisions remains to be seen, but the message to lawmakers is clear: deliver results, or face political consequences.
