Trump Pressures Iran on Nuclear Enrichment, Hints at US Military Option

Trump demands Iran halt uranium enrichment, signals possible US military action as tensions escalate.

US and Israel Signal Strength as Tensions Escalate with Iran

President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, calling for an immediate end to uranium enrichment and leaving open the prospect of US military action if Tehran continues to advance its nuclear program. The warnings came as Israel launched a new wave of strikes against Iranian nuclear sites, targeting the Natanz facility and ramping up pressure on Tehran’s leadership.

While the Israeli Air Force struck the Natanz nuclear site, reportedly damaging underground structures, security experts emphasized that Iran’s Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant remains operational and out of reach for conventional Israeli weaponry. The Fordow site, buried deep within mountain bedrock, is seen as the most dangerous of Iran’s nuclear facilities. Experts say only the United States has the capabilities, including bunker-busting munitions and stealth bombers, to neutralize the threat posed by Fordow.

Trump has refused to specify whether the United States will pursue direct military intervention, stating he does not wish to discuss operational details while repeatedly insisting that Iran must never acquire a nuclear weapon. “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran,” Trump warned, while touting American air superiority over Iran. In a message on social media, Trump said, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran. Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”

The president returned early from the G7 summit in Canada to convene a Situation Room meeting on the crisis, declaring his focus on achieving a “real end” to the conflict, not just a ceasefire. “I’m not too much in the mood to negotiate,” Trump told reporters, signaling a hard line as US and Israeli forces maintain a heightened state of readiness.

Vice President Vance and US Officials Defend Stance on Iran

Vice President JD Vance defended President Trump’s “amazingly consistent” approach, noting that the president has always insisted Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Vance highlighted Iran’s violations of international nuclear agreements, stating, “They’ve enriched uranium far above the level necessary for any civilian purpose.” According to Vance, Iran rejected offers for civilian nuclear power that did not involve enrichment, choosing instead to pursue weapons-grade capabilities.

Vance acknowledged public concerns about potential foreign entanglements but stressed that Trump’s priority remains protecting American troops and citizens. “He is only interested in using the American military to accomplish American people’s goals,” Vance wrote on social media. The vice president cautioned that any further military action would be the president’s decision alone.

Trump intensified pressure on Tehran with a demand for “unconditional surrender,” following five days of escalating strikes and counter-strikes in the region. The United States has surged assets to the Middle East and reportedly aided Israel in intercepting Iranian responses. “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding,” Trump posted, though he stated the US is not targeting Iran’s leader for now. “We don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”

Israeli officials underscored the limitations of their military, noting that further action against Iran’s most fortified facilities would require US cooperation or creative alternatives. Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said the Israeli air force is currently operating in Iran, adding, “We have very impressive results on the ground. We will continue, and you will see more results.”

As tensions mount, the world watches for President Trump’s next move. With military assets deployed and diplomatic options narrowing, the US administration continues to warn Tehran that its pursuit of nuclear weapons will not be tolerated, leaving the door open for further escalation if Iran fails to comply.
