Trump Warns Iran Oil Buyers, Talks Delayed

United States President Donald Trump issued a stark warning Thursday that any country or entity purchasing oil from Iran will be prohibited from doing business with the United States. The declaration comes in the wake of newly imposed sanctions aimed at cutting off Iran’s financial support for groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

Trump criticized the previous administration for allowing Iran to regain access to funds, asserting that during his earlier term, Iran lacked the financial capability to sponsor militant activities. He stated that the reinstated pressure would push Iran back toward the brink, saying the country had previously been "just about to bust."

“These attacks wouldn't have happened,” Trump said, referring to violent events that have escalated since October 7, 2023, which he attributed to renewed Iranian funding of armed groups.

In a separate development, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi confirmed that the fourth round of diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran, originally scheduled for May 3 in Rome, has been postponed. He cited logistical reasons for the delay and stated, “New dates will be announced when mutually agreed.”

The upcoming round was set to continue efforts at de-escalation between Washington and Tehran, but the current climate and Trump’s escalated sanctions suggest heightened tensions ahead.

With U.S. policy turning more assertive and talks now delayed, diplomatic momentum appears uncertain. Observers await further announcements regarding rescheduling and any future engagement paths between the two nations.
