US Close to Gaza Aid Delivery Deal

The United States Department of State announced on Thursday that it is nearing a breakthrough in securing a viable plan for delivering humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip. Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated during a press briefing, “We are steps away from a solution on being able to deliver the aid and the food” to those in need. She stressed that the US welcomes moves to swiftly provide urgent food aid, but underscored that it must be delivered directly to the intended recipients.

“It cannot fall into the hands of terrorists, such as Hamas,” Bruce said, reaffirming Washington’s stance on ensuring that humanitarian assistance is not diverted. She added that the US supports immediate implementation of an aid plan and called on other nations to contribute to the effort.

Israel previously put forward a proposal for resuming humanitarian aid, which would have seen it managing the distribution process. However, the United Nations rejected the proposal, accusing Israel of attempting to “weaponize aid” by controlling its flow and potentially using it as a political tool.

The latest developments highlight the complex dynamics at play in the delivery of humanitarian relief to Gaza, where ensuring aid reaches civilians without empowering militant groups remains a critical challenge. The US continues to push for a balanced solution that addresses both the urgent humanitarian needs and the security concerns of all parties involved.
