China Lifts US Export Bans for 90 Days

China's Commerce Ministry announced the removal of 28 US entities from its export control list for 90 days, along with 17 entities from the unreliable entities list. This move, effective immediately, comes as part of an agreement with the United States to de-escalate the ongoing trade war. The action follows previous Chinese sanctions imposed in retaliation for tariffs levied by President Donald Trump's administration on Chinese exports.

Additionally, Beijing reduced tariffs on US goods to 10% and suspended a planned 24% increase for 90 days, signaling a willingness to ease bilateral tensions. These measures aim to create a more favorable environment for continued economic dialogue between the two nations.

Despite these conciliatory steps, tensions persist over technological restrictions. On Thursday, Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson He Yongqian accused the United States of misusing export control measures to target Huawei Technologies' AI chip products. He criticized the US Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security for actions that allegedly undermine Chinese companies, threaten global semiconductor supply chains, and disrupt international trade norms.

“China urges the US to immediately correct its wrong practices and will take resolute measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises,” He stated. The spokesperson emphasized that such US actions hinder long-term cooperation and development between the two nations.

Regarding future trade negotiations, He confirmed that China remains open to resolving economic relations and that further details will be announced in due course.

As both sides navigate these complex issues, the global business community closely watches for signs of lasting resolution in US-China trade dynamics.
