Harris Mocked for Celebrating Failed Presidential Run

Kamala Harris is mocked online for commemorating the anniversary of her unsuccessful presidential campaign.

Anniversary Post Sparks Criticism

Former Vice President Kamala Harris faced a wave of mockery and criticism after posting on social media to mark the one-year anniversary of her failed presidential campaign. On July 21, 2024, then-President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the presidential race and subsequently endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee for president. Harris’s post, which featured photos from her campaign, celebrated her time meeting Americans across the nation and praised those “fighting for a better future.”

However, many social media users quickly pointed out that the post failed to mention Joe Biden, who had played a pivotal role in her rise to the nomination. Critics argued that Harris appeared to be distancing herself from the Biden administration, with some accusing her of attempting to erase her association with the former president. “You didn’t get a single primary vote. How very democratic,” remarked commentator Amy Curtis, while RNC Research highlighted the absence of any votes for Harris in the primary process, calling her nomination “not the flex you think it is.”

Political Commentators Question the Celebration

Political figures and media personalities also weighed in, with Washington Free Beacon’s Chuck Ross and political commentator Link Lauren both noting the conspicuous lack of Biden references. National Review’s Dan McLaughlin and author John Hawkins took a more sardonic approach, questioning the motivations and results of Harris’s campaign. Townhall columnist Kurt Schlichter was blunt, stating, “Your failure and reputation were complete.”

The Harris campaign, which FEC filings reveal spent over $1 billion in three months on celebrity endorsements, activist groups, and private jets, ultimately ended in defeat to President Donald Trump in the November election. The lavish spending and high-profile endorsements did little to sway voters, and the campaign’s outcome has remained a point of contention among both Democrats and Republicans.

Fox News Digital reached out to Harris’s team for comment on the anniversary post but did not receive an immediate response. As the anniversary draws renewed attention to the turbulent 2024 campaign season, the incident highlights ongoing divisions within the Democratic Party and the challenges facing its leaders as they seek to regain the confidence of American voters.
