Trump Condemns Putin Over Deadly Ukraine Missile Strikes

President Donald Trump sharply criticized Russian leader Vladimir Putin following a devastating missile and drone attack on Ukrainian cities.

Trump Criticizes Putin’s Deadly Assault

President Donald Trump expressed strong dissatisfaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, condemning Russia’s extensive aerial assault on Ukrainian cities, including the capital Kyiv. Trump spoke to journalists at Morristown Municipal Airport in New Jersey, where he explicitly accused Putin of causing significant civilian casualties.

"I'm not happy with what Putin is doing," Trump declared to reporters, adding that Putin is "killing a lot of people." He continued, questioning Putin's recent behavior: "I don't know what the hell happened to Putin. I've known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he's sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don't like it at all."

Trump further highlighted the severity of Putin’s actions, emphasizing the unprecedented scale of the attack. According to Ukrainian authorities, Russia launched a record-breaking 298 drones and 69 missiles, marking the largest single aerial assault since the war began. The attack resulted in at least 12 civilian fatalities and dozens more injuries.

Zelenskyy Demands Global Response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly condemned the attack on his official Telegram channel, urging international condemnation and further sanctions against Russia. Zelenskyy wrote, "The silence of America, the silence of others in the world only encourages Putin. Every such terrorist Russian strike is reason enough for new sanctions against Russia."

President Trump expanded on his earlier comments later Sunday through a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. Trump wrote that Putin "has gone absolutely CRAZY," reinforcing his earlier criticism of the Russian leader’s recent aggressive actions.

However, Trump also took aim at Zelenskyy’s rhetoric, suggesting that Zelenskyy's statements are exacerbating the crisis. Trump’s post stated: "I’ve always said that [Putin] wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia! Likewise, President Zelenskyy is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop."

Trump emphasized his position that the war would never have occurred under his direct leadership, assigning responsibility to others for its escalation. He declared, "This is a War that would never have started if I were President. This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not ‘Trump’s.’ I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires, that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred."

Sunday's attack marks a significant escalation in a conflict that has already seen substantial civilian casualties and widespread destruction across Ukraine. Trump’s critical remarks highlight a potential shift in international dialogue regarding the ongoing war.
