Trump comments on Macron’s viral moment with wife, calling it “fine” and offering lighthearted advice.

Trump Addresses Viral Incident Between French President and First Lady

President Donald Trump offered a lighthearted take on an unusual moment involving French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, following the circulation of a viral video showing her pushing his face.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said, “Make sure the door remains closed. That is not good.” He continued, “No, I spoke to him, and he's fine, they're fine. Two really good people I know very well. And, I don't know what that was all about, but, I know him very well, and they're fine.”

The comments came after video footage surfaced showing the French couple exiting a plane in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Sunday as part of a Southeast Asia tour. In the video, President Macron is seen at the aircraft door, when a pair of hands—belonging to Brigitte Macron—appears to shove him in the face.

Despite the unexpected moment, the couple, married since 2007, were later photographed disembarking the plane together, offering no outward signs of tension.

Macron’s Office Clarifies the Exchange

Amid online speculation, Macron’s office quickly addressed the incident, stating it was a moment of playful interaction between the couple. “It was a moment where the President and his wife were decompressing one last time before the start of the trip by horsing around. It's a moment of complicity,” the office explained in a statement on Tuesday. “It was all that was needed to give ammunition to the conspiracy theorists,” the statement added.

The French president met his wife when he was a high school student and she was a teacher. Their long-standing relationship has often drawn public attention, particularly due to the unique origins of their union.

Macron visited President Trump at the White House in February, marking the first European leader to do so after Trump’s second inauguration. The two leaders maintain a working relationship that includes regular diplomatic engagement.

As the video continues to circulate on social media, both Trump’s and Macron’s responses seek to frame the moment as a trivial incident blown out of proportion, underscoring the challenges public figures face in a hyper-connected, image-driven world.
