Trump Slams Springsteen in Truth Social Post

Trump calls Bruce Springsteen “overrated” and “obnoxious” after the singer labeled his administration “treasonous” abroad.

Trump Responds to Springsteen's Remarks in Manchester Concert

President Donald Trump issued a scathing response Friday to rock musician Bruce Springsteen, who earlier this week described Trump’s administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous” during a concert appearance in Manchester, England. Springsteen’s comments, made on stage before an international audience, prompted a lengthy and pointed rebuttal from Trump on Truth Social.

“I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States,” Trump wrote. “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK.”

Springsteen, known for his political activism, had told his British audience on Wednesday, “In my home, the America I love... is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.” He urged supporters of democracy to “raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring,” calling on fans to oppose what he sees as a threat to the American political system.

Trump responded with characteristic bluntness, further attacking Springsteen’s character and musical reputation. “Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’ and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)?” he posted. “This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker... ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country.”

Feud Intensifies Amid Political Endorsements

The feud between Trump and Springsteen is not new. Last year, Springsteen endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in the presidential election, asserting that Trump was “the most dangerous candidate for President in my lifetime.” His remarks were featured in campaign videos and promotional material for a concert series aimed at boosting Democratic turnout in key battleground states.

Trump’s reposting of the Springsteen video and subsequent remarks underscore how the president continues to frame celebrity opposition as both unpatriotic and elitist. In his Friday post, Trump referred to President Joe Biden as “mentally incompetent” and criticized Springsteen for supporting Biden’s campaign. He also suggested that Springsteen’s remarks made overseas amounted to disrespect toward the country and should have been withheld until his return.

The former tensions have reignited amid the president’s broader reelection narrative, in which he has positioned his administration as a corrective to what he describes as a chaotic and radical past. The Springsteen clash reflects a larger cultural divide, with celebrities and entertainers playing increasingly visible roles in partisan politics.

As both figures continue to occupy the public spotlight—one from the White House, the other from the world stage—their conflict adds another chapter to the long-running intersection of political discourse and American pop culture.
