Tuberville Raises $2M for Alabama Governor Run

Sen. Tommy Tuberville raises over $2M in 24 hours as he launches campaign for Alabama governor with Trump’s full backing.

Record-Setting Launch for Tuberville's Gubernatorial Campaign

Senator Tommy Tuberville has officially launched his campaign for governor of Alabama, announcing a record-breaking $2,064,723 in donations within the first 24 hours. The campaign stated the total far exceeded its original target and broke previous state records for initial fundraising.

Tuberville, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, is widely regarded as the leading Republican candidate to replace term-limited Governor Kay Ivey. His deep ties to the state, particularly as a former head coach at Auburn University, have solidified his popularity across Alabama's conservative base.

Campaign fundraiser Jackie Curtiss Cox emphasized the grassroots nature of the donations. “These were not from PAC donations — every dollar came from small business owners, entrepreneurs, workers, and retirees,” she noted. “There are two universal truths in the Yellowhammer state right now: Alabamians love President Trump and they want Coach Tuberville to be their next governor.”

Trump’s Backing and Conservative Platform Fuel Momentum

Tuberville's early fundraising success comes amid strong indications of support from President Trump. While an official endorsement has not yet been formally issued, Tuberville confirmed that Trump is “fully supportive” of his run. Political sources have suggested such an endorsement is likely imminent.

In addition to Trump’s support, Tuberville has gained the endorsement of the Club for Growth, a fiscally conservative organization known for its influence in Republican primaries. These backers bolster his campaign as he pledges to uphold conservative Alabama values and grow the state’s economy.

Tuberville’s entry into the gubernatorial race followed months of speculation. He formally launched his campaign through a newly released website and began media appearances focused on his leadership vision. “I'm doing this to help this country and the great state of Alabama,” he stated. “I'm a football coach. I'm a leader. I'm a builder. I'm a recruiter, and we're going to grow Alabama.”

The timing of Tuberville's announcement comes shortly after Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth confirmed he would not pursue the governorship, clearing a path for Tuberville to consolidate Republican support in the 2026 primary.

Tuberville was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2020, defeating Democrat Doug Jones after winning the Republican primary over former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. His decision to run for governor now creates an open Senate seat in Alabama, setting the stage for a competitive race in the upcoming midterm cycle.

As the race unfolds, Tuberville's rapid momentum, prominent endorsements, and strong grassroots backing position him as a formidable candidate to lead Alabama into its next political chapter.
