US Approves $2.2B Arms Sale to Netherlands

The United States Department of Defense announced on Friday that the State Department has approved a potential arms sale valued at approximately $2.19 billion to the Netherlands. The proposed deal involves Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles and associated equipment, aiming to bolster the Netherlands' long-range conventional strike capabilities.

According to the Pentagon's Defense Security Cooperation Agency, RTX Corporation will serve as the principal contractor for the sale. The package includes 163 Tomahawk Block V All Up Rounds (AURs), 12 Tomahawk Block IV AURs, up to ten Tactical Tomahawk Weapons Control Systems (TTWCS), and two Tomahawk Block IV telemetry missiles. It also encompasses engineering services, technical expertise, transportation, logistics support, and non-recurring engineering.

The Defense Department emphasized that the proposed sale would strengthen the Netherlands' capacity to address current and future threats, providing significant standoff range with precision surface-to-surface strike capabilities. The move reflects ongoing efforts to enhance allied defense infrastructures amid evolving global security challenges.
