Pakistan Backs Trump India Ceasefire Move
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday welcomed the remarks made by United States President Donald J. Trump, who expressed support for the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. Islamabad praised Washington’s endorsement as a meaningful contribution to ongoing peace efforts in the region.
“We appreciate President Trump's expressed willingness to support efforts aimed at the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute,” the Foreign Ministry stated in an official post on X. The statement reflects Pakistan’s approval of the U.S. role in encouraging diplomatic engagement between the South Asian neighbors.
The ministry emphasized that international backing for peace talks is essential for long-term regional stability. In particular, Pakistan acknowledged the significance of Trump's comments in providing momentum to the latest ceasefire understanding, which aims to reduce tensions across the Line of Control (LoC).
Islamabad also extended its gratitude to other nations that have supported the bilateral efforts to maintain calm along the volatile border. The ceasefire understanding is seen as a critical opportunity for both countries to re-engage in dialogue and potentially address long-standing issues, including the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir.
The support from President Trump adds a global dimension to the ceasefire process and aligns with broader calls for peaceful conflict resolution in South Asia. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to peace and expressed optimism that continued international involvement would facilitate meaningful progress.
As both countries navigate the complexities of their relationship, the endorsement from the U.S. is expected to encourage further diplomatic dialogue and confidence-building measures in the months ahead.
