Trump Attends G7 Amid Israel-Iran Conflict, US Protests

Trump travels to Canada for his first G7 summit amid Israel-Iran clashes and violent protests over immigration in US cities.

Trump Begins G7 Week Amid Middle East Turmoil

President Donald Trump entered his 22nd week back in the Oval Office by traveling to Alberta, Canada, for his first G7 summit of his second administration. The summit, hosted in the Canadian Rockies, brings together leaders from seven of the world’s largest economies as tensions escalate between Israel and Iran and violent protests erupt across the United States.

Over the weekend, Trump celebrated his 79th birthday and attended a massive military parade in Washington, D.C., honoring the Army’s 250th anniversary, coinciding with Flag Day. As he departed for Canada on Sunday, Trump’s attention remained fixed on the Middle East, where Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion” launched preemptive strikes on Iran’s nuclear and missile sites. The strikes resulted in the deaths of several senior Iranian military officials and have sparked a cycle of retaliation, with Iran declaring the attacks an act of war and responding with strikes that killed civilians in Israel.

Trump revealed that the U.S. was briefed on Israel’s actions in advance and reiterated his call for a nuclear agreement to end ongoing violence. “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal... they just couldn’t get it done. It will only get worse!” Trump posted on social media, emphasizing American military strength and urging Iranian leaders to negotiate.

Despite his warnings, Iran withdrew from planned nuclear talks in Oman, and the president signaled he would use trade policy to incentivize peace. Trump referenced his previous diplomatic efforts to resolve global disputes, claiming, “We will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings now taking place.”

G7 Summit to Address Security, Economy, and Global Crises

The G7 summit’s agenda includes the conflict in the Middle East, the ongoing war in Ukraine, global economic challenges, and Trump’s tariff policies. Leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the European Union will be joined by guests such as Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

As global leaders meet, Trump also faces rising unrest at home. Violent protests and riots have erupted in major U.S. cities following federal immigration raids in Los Angeles, sparking condemnation from local Democratic officials. Demonstrations spread nationwide as “No Kings Day” protests criticized Trump’s leadership style and coincided with the weekend’s parade. Several cities, including Portland and Los Angeles, saw clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement, with injuries reported among police officers and widespread property damage.

As the week unfolds, the White House’s efforts to manage international conflict and domestic dissent will be closely scrutinized. Trump’s balancing act between global diplomacy, economic strategy, and internal security highlights the complexities of leadership during a time of global instability and domestic polarization.
