Trump Pushes ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ in Senate
Trump urges Senate to pass sweeping reform bill with tax cuts, border enforcement, and energy overhaul.
Trump Calls for Immediate Senate Action on Major Legislation
President Donald Trump is pressing Senate Republicans to swiftly pass the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” a sweeping legislative package he says will undo the damage of the previous administration and restore fiscal and national stability. In a post Monday evening, Trump described the bill as a transformative solution to what he labeled four “disastrous years” under Joe Biden.
The House approved the bill in late May, and it is now under review in the Senate. Trump is urging his allies in Congress to act before July 4, pushing for swift passage to deliver on major campaign promises.
“We will take a massive step to balancing our Budget by enacting the largest mandatory Spending Cut, EVER,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He also announced the largest tax cut in U.S. history, including the elimination of taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits for seniors — a move he says was supported by 80 million voters.
Key Elements: Tax Reform, Energy, Border Security
The proposed legislation includes expedited energy permitting, plans to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and an overhaul of air travel systems through the purchase of a final Air Traffic Control System. One notable provision is the construction of what Trump calls “The Gold Dome,” aimed at enhancing national airspace defense.
Immigration policy is another focal point. The bill authorizes expanded construction of the border wall and initiates what Trump termed the “supercharged deportation of millions of criminal illegals.” Additionally, it removes unauthorized immigrants from Medicaid rolls and restricts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to U.S. citizens.
Trump also targets Biden-era environmental and automotive policies. The bill would repeal mandates tied to electric vehicles and cancel what Trump labeled the “Green New Scam,” including tax credits and climate spending. He pledged that the bill would restore consumer choice and affordability in car purchasing.
Another section of the bill halts federal funding for gender transition procedures for minors. “THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL also protects our beautiful children by stopping funding for sick sex changes for minors,” Trump declared in his post.
He reiterated that there would be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid, asserting that the bill protects these programs from what he called “Democratic incompetence.” Trump dismissed critics, saying Democrats are making “false statements” due to what he described as political desperation.
“The only ‘cutting’ we will do is for Waste, Fraud, and Abuse,” Trump wrote. “Something that should have been done by the Incompetent, Radical Left Democrats for the last four years, but wasn’t.”
The bill, however, has drawn scrutiny for its projected fiscal impact. According to the Committee for Responsible Federal Budget, the legislation could add approximately $3 trillion to the national debt, including interest.
Senate Republicans now face the challenge of navigating complex policy provisions and possible amendments. Any changes could jeopardize support in the House, where Speaker Mike Johnson holds only a narrow margin for passage.
With political pressure mounting and a self-imposed July 4 deadline looming, Congress is in a race to finalize the measure. If enacted, the bill would represent one of the most significant legislative shifts of Trump’s current term, affecting tax policy, immigration enforcement, energy strategy, and social spending for years to come.
