Trump Rejects Trade Policy Shift

United States President Donald Trump declared that financial market volatility, including the threat of a recession or a weakened dollar, would not force him to change his trade policies. Speaking during an interview, Trump emphasized that he sees no "certain number" that would compel a policy shift.

"It always affects you a little bit," Trump acknowledged, but firmly rejected the notion popular among some Wall Street analysts that economic turbulence would prompt a rollback of his tariff policies. "There's no red line, no 'certain number' at which he would feel compelled to change course," he stated.

Trump also mentioned that he agreed to the interview with The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, "out of curiosity" after previous tensions. The outreach followed controversies where U.S. security officials had included the reporter in a Signal group chat concerning Yemen military operations.

Trump’s comments reinforce his administration’s firm stance on trade strategy, signaling that market pressures will not dictate shifts in policy during his current term.
